How the MQBMBQ project wants to amplify the voice of a community
With the new "Share your story" feature, the hub opens up to audience experiences

Born last October, the project My Queer Blackness, My Black Queerness (MQBMBQ) aims to explore the different perspectives of what it means to be Black and Queer in the different Italian social contexts. For this reason, together with Converse and its All Stars Program, he had founded the digital platform The Queer Black Italian Experience - a digital space of expression and representation for Black Queer people in Italy, dedicated to their concerns and experiences. After the publication in two separate chapters of the personal experiences and intimate portraits of ten members of this community from all over Italy, the platform will now be enriched with a new "Share your story" section to allow anyone to get in touch with the hub and become a participant in the project.
As Jordan Anderson, founder of MQBMBQ, creative director of the project and editor-at-large for nss magazine pointed out in an interview with i-D:
«Of course, the Black LGBTQ+ experience isn’t monolithic and each black queer person has their own story to tell».
And this is precisely why, with the addition of the new section, The Queer Black Italian Experience platform reaches its ideal destination, that is, to become a real democratic forum towards which an entire community can turn as towards a safe space, where self-expression and representation are shared by everyone to support everyone.
