December 4th, 2020
The Fashion Awards 2020 were held yesterday in digital form. Through a 30-minute video, this year's candidates were awarded based on five categories: Community, Creativity, Environment, People, and New Wave. Of course, the most anticipated awards were those regarding the creative side of the industry, and the first winner of all was Riccardo Tisci with his Burberry – rewarded for his commitment to inclusiveness and support as well as for his initiatives in favour of hospitals during the Coronavirus emergency.
Burberry used the strength of the brand's supply chain to manufacture and deliver surgical masks to British hospitals, converting the famous trench coat factory in Castleford for the production of sanitary materials that were later donated. In general, Tisci was awarded for being able to redefine the brand's identity in a completely modern direction.
Alongside him, this year's winners were also Kim Jones, with his collaborative collections for Dior, the appointment at Fendi and the honour of Queen Elizabeth; Jonathan Anderson, for his work on craft presentations; Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, for the mere cult value of their union and Grace Wales Bonner, for her explorations of modern masculinity.
