Kenzo's new capsule collection to save endangered tigers
For each garment sold, the brand will donate 10 dollars to WWF
September 22nd, 2020
Since the beginning of the brand's history, the tiger has been the very symbol of Kenzo's style. It is in fact in the figure of the tiger that all the aesthetic obsessions of founder Kenzo Takada are summarized: from the jungles painted by Rosseau to the name of his first, historic store "Jungle Jap". That's why the brand is still committed to defending against tiger extinction by collaborating with WWF on the TX2 initiative, which aims to double the tiger population in the wild by 2022 – next year of the Tiger in the Chinese Zodiac. Kenzo will do so through its new Kenzo Tiger capsule, part of which will be donated to WWF in support of the cause.
The Kenzo Tiger capsule will consist of basic items: sweatshirts, t-shirts and dresses in sweatshirts. The leitmotiv will be a new version of the famous tiger that decorates many of the brand's garments. All items will be made of 100% organic cotton and certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard. For each garment sold, Kenzo will donate 10 dollars to the WWF's "TX2" initiative. The partnership will be renewed until the end of 2022, the ambitious deadline set by the TX2 to double tigers in the wild from 2010 levels. The initiative highlights the interest of the creative director of the brand, Felipe Oliveira Baptista, towards the preservation of nature: he had already created a similar capsule when he was still directing Lacoste in 2018.
