The minimal gorpcore of Gramicci
The Japanese brand presents its FW20 collection with a double lookbook
September 16th, 2020
In recent years, the gorpcore aesthetic, that is, inspired by technical clothing from mountaineering and hiking, has experienced an ascent that does not stop. Thanks to this newfound popularity, cult brands such as Arc'teryx and Gramicci are living a new life – a phenomenon witnessed by the new FW20 collection of The Japanese Gramicci that merges its use of advanced materials and the functionality of design to a more lifestyle approach to produce a range of items richer than usual. The collection is in fact ideally divided into a perfomance section designed for sport and the most extreme climates and a part dedicated to the classics of the brand, dedicated instead to everyday life.
As you'd expect from a cult brand like Gramicci, the greater emphasis is on the outerwear which employs in building Cordura fabrics, RENU polyester and waterproof multilayer nylon. One of the most interesting pieces is the Cordura Rip Foody jacket, very light but virtually indestructible, soft but able to isolate the wearer from both the cold and the water seepage. Another highlight is the Quarter Knit Hoodie, created with two different twisted thread gauges that maintains the softness of a sweater and is completely water-repellent. Completing the collection is a wide range of technical trousers and utility-inspired accessories.
