The story of the most famous color of the garments of The North Face also speaks of the philosophy that informs the aesthetics of the brand. The Gold Summit, or Acapulco Gold in its original version, which distinguished the first high mountain sleeping bag and the famous Expedition Parka of The North Face, released in '71 and '73 respectively, had been chosen not only because it was particularly visible in the high mountains but also to distinguish the products of the brand from those of the competition with a bold colorway. The color soon became associated with the brand, thanks in part to the feats of skiers and mountaineers such as Scot Schmidt and Conrad Anker; He entered the pop culture of the ski scene in the 1990s, reaching the streets of New York and the hip-hop world. Today, the brand wanted to celebrate the history of Summit Gold with a special capsule named Yellow Icons.
The technical outerwear capsule consists of four items that sum up the great classics of The North Face's design for high-level sports: the Himalayan Down Parka, the Retro Denali Jacket, the Nuptse Vest and the Mountain Jacket. All four garments have a retro silhouette, but technical materials designed to achieve the best performance. The Down Parka can be folded and compressed in its own pocket, for example, the Denali Jacket is instead made of recycled stacks and waterproof fabric and can be combined with the Mountain Jacket with waterproof welded seams to deal with all kinds of weather.
