Cork sandals by Birkenstock have always been a must have for summer. Always at the center of the debate between those who consider them cool and those who think that they are simply unacceptable, their success continues to grow: according to Lyst data, in the last month their research on the platform has recorded an increase of 225%, also thanks to the numerous collaborations with designers like Valentino, Rick Owens and Proenza Schouler, but also to some stars who have chosen to survive the post-quarantine summer, from Kendall Jenner to Leonardo DiCaprio and David Beckham. Among these exclusive collaborations, the latest is the one with Stüssy: after the release of the new Stüssy x Nike collection, on July 24th, which saw the debut of the Air Zoom Kukini, Birkenstock has joined forces with the streetwear brand to make a change one of his most classic and beloved models, the Boston Clog.
The model recovers the classic design of the original Boston Clog, but presents itself with an original upper, not in leather but in corduroy, complemented by the classic adjustable strap with buckle. Unlike what is seen on the new Beatnik Reebok x PLEASURES sandals, the Stüssy logo appears in relief only on the side, and is so subtle that it is almost not recognizable. The sandal is completed by Birkenstock’s signature anatomically designed cork footbed with an integrated latex foam cushion and suede lining paired with an EVA outsole. The model will be available in two colors, Anthracite and Bone.
