UNIQLO donates 1 million masks to the city of Milan
Along with 400 Ultra Light Down duvets to volunteers working in the city during the Coronavirus emergency
March 30th, 2020
Fast Retailing announced it will donate millions of surgical masks to medical institutions around the world in response to the global spread of the Coronavirus. Now that the COVID-19 emergency has become global, UNIQLO's owning group, in partnership with its Chinese manufactures, has converted its activities to the production of surgical masks that it will distribute from the end of March in Japan, Europe and the United States, where the number of confirmed cases of people affected by the virus is increasing rapidly and where there is an urgent need for protective clothing.
One of the countries most affected by the pandemic is certainly Italy and 1 million masks will be donated to the city of Milan. The Japanese brand has decided to join the solidarity movement that has started up in recent days to face the difficult situation in which the country is in:
We want to express our gratitude for the warm welcome and support that the Milanese people have shown to UNIQLO in this first year in Milan",- said Kohsuke Kobayashi, Chef Operating Officer of UNIQLO Italy, - and express our gratitude by helping the city by making up for the lack of protective masks and donating 400 Ultra Light Down down jackets. A tangible contribution that I hope will demonstrate the importance, now more than ever, to stay united.
The protections will be distributed to the hospitals, to the neediest institutions, but also to protect municipal workers and volunteers operating in the area who, being at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19, are also the most exposed. Volunteers serving in the city of Milan will also receive 400 Ultra Light Down duvets.
