The new Fred Perry x Raf Simons collection
Inspired by punk photographers Gavin Watson and George Plemper
March 20th, 2020
The collaboration between Fred Perry and Raf Simons has been renewed once again for the SS20 season of the brand. For the eleventh year of partnership, Simons explores the world of youth subcultures in the UK, rediscovering the archive of photographers Gavin Watson and George Plemper (already used as a conceptual basis in the FW19 collaborative collection) preserved by the YOUTH CLUB Preservation Programme – a non-profit organization that preserves and digitizes images of the history of youth culture from the 1970s to the 1990s.
Watson and Plemper's photographs, depicting a generation of young people for whom clothing was a form of protest, become the graphic protagonists of polo shirts, t-shirts, shirts, crewneck sweatshirts and hoodies in black, blue and white colourways and decorated with a silver version of Fred Perry's famous Laurel Wreath logo. Simons' anarchic touch appears in the unconventional arrangement of the graphic elements, which cover the shoulders of the clothes and not the chest.
The SS20 Fred Perry x Raf Simons collection is already available online on the brand's official website.
