Gucci Osteria da Massimo Bottura opens in Los Angeles
The appointment will be on February 17 at the new Beverly Hills location
February 10th, 2020
The partnership between the Italian Maison and chef Massimo Bottura goes on and, following the success of the restaurant housed in the Palazzo della Mercanzia in Piazza della Signoria in Florence, is ready to conquer Los Angeles. On the occasion of the Oscar night, Gucci Osteria has just inaugurated the new location on the top floor of 347 Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills with an exclusive party full of stars such as Salma Hayek, Saoirse Ronan, Anjelica Houston, Iggy Pop, Dita von Teese, Beck and Floria Sigismondi.
The Los Angeles location is more American and less Italian. It embraces the people of the United States more. It reflects the attitude of Rodeo Drive much more. Everything will come from California, but with a touch of Italian, with a more vegetarian and fish, due to its seaside proximity.
Bottura unveiled in an interview to the Wall Street Journal, anticipating that the restaurant's menu will bring together the gastronomic culture of both countries and will include dishes as Risotto come una pizza; Coming From the Hills, which combines local white trout with hazelnuts and mushrooms; Pasta Fagioli With a View of the Pacific Coast, which mixes pasta and beans with sea urchins and raw vegetables. There will also be classic tortellini dressed with a cream of Parmesan cheese and a chocolate dessert. The chef of Mexican origin Karime López, who has just received a Michelin star for Gucci Osteria in Florence, and Mattia Agazzi, who will be the executive chef, will be working in the kitchen on site.
The design of the LA venue will be inspired by its Italian version and will be curated by Gucci's creative director Alessandro Michele. A ceiling full of stars will welcome customers (50 seats available) who will come here to eat and can choose to sit in the vintage allure dining room with herringbone parquet or on the terrace both furnished with wicker chairs, red marble tables and cherry red benches.
Like Louis Vuitton who will open its first restaurant in Japan on February 15th, Gucci confirms that the future of fashion luxury brands is to expand their hospitality business and, for this reason, Marco Bizzarri, together with Bottura's childhood friend, plans to open a new Osteria Gucci space in the Ginza district of Tokyo. Currently, it has not yet been communicated when this will happen. The next appointment with Bottura and Gucci's kitchen is for February 17 when the LA restaurant will open to the public.
