UNIQLO presents the SS20 Uniqlo U collection by Christophe Lemaire
Future LifeWear Essentials
January 23rd, 2020
On February 20, the latest Uniqlo U collection arrives at UNIQLO. The line is designed at the brand's research and development centre in Paris, where a team led by Christophe Lemaire reinvents the Japanese company's minimalist codes to create a wardrobe of everyday essentials using innovative materials and new, contemporary silhouettes. For the upcoming SS20 season, the designer continues to develop the basic, elegant and functional aesthetic that has made his eponymous maison, Lemaire, one of the most interesting projects of recent years. The result is a selection of 57 women's garments, 41 men's garments and 3 accessories characterized by clean style, modern cuts, timeless look, inspired by workwear and military uniforms.
The women's collection is full of modern silhouettes, technical fabrics and a sophisticated palette. The garments are designed for independent, free, active persons and include tailored jersey jackets, lightweight, sheer cotton shirts, soft dresses and monochrome suits. The pants are the most versatile element: oversized or parachute pants feature details such as ankle buttons that allow the wearer to go from a straight leg to tracksuit style pants. For men, Lemaire focuses on cut, fit and relaxed mood. Fabrics and details are inspired by the functionality typical of vintage workwear and military garments. A perfect example is the parka that can now be turned into a hooded coat with contrasting interior colors. Among tees, denim jackets and pants, there is a return of a great menswear classic: the Cuban shirt, in a version with pleats, a unique pocket, breathable cotton fabrics and open collar.
The entire SS20 Uniqlo U collection by Christophe Lemaire will be available from February 20 in 66 UNIQLO stores and on UNIQLO.com.
