Paris Men’s Fashion Week FW20 Moodboard
The inspirations from the catwalks
January 17th, 2020
The fashion of this Paris Fashion Week dedicated to FW20 menswear described, as already suggested by MFW, many versions of a new contemporary elegance, made of sartorial items, experimental silhouettes and art. At Valentino's, Pierpaolo Piccioli, featuring FKA twigs live performance, brought to the catwalk clothes with sharp, slender, fluid shapes, made even more poetic by Inez and Vinoodh's floral images and Melanie Matranga's words. Clare Waight Keller and Givenchy accompanied us on a journey from India to Los Angeles, mixing Maharaja and cowboys; while Kim Jones for the Dior collection took us to the London of Buffalo scenes and Judy Blame, the non-conformist punk icon who has influenced Maison's heritage with his style. While here in the front row there was Kate Moss, with her daughter Lila Grace, applauding the designer, on the Vetements catwalk there was a doppelgänger of the model. Clones of Angelina Jolie, Snoop Dog and Naomi Campbell wore the clothes of the brand which was debuting for the first time without the artistic direction of Demna Gvasalia.
Louis Vuitton presented a reinterpretation of Magritte's surreal world evoking what was already seen in John Galliano's proposals for the SS13 and Moschino's proposals for autumn-winter 2014. Polemics hit also COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS and Rei Kawakubo, accused of cultural appropriation for using cornrow wigs on white models. The brand and its hairstylist apologized immediately, explaining that the original inspiration was the pharaohs and ancient Egypt.
