Nike celebrates Chinese New Year with special Air Jordan 1 Low
A re-issue with a unique multi-pattern
January 9th, 2020
Following the "Year of the Rat" pack - a recurring capsule collection dedicated to the iconic Chinese zodiac animal - Nike celebrates Chinese New Year with a special Air Jordan 1 Low. The new colorway has bold and festive tones, an explosion of different colors, patterns and materials characterize the upper of the Air Jordan 1 Low "Chinese New Year", which for the occasion also presents a mismatched arrangement of the panels
Each panel has a different print or application than the others, some are references to patterns used in the past during CNY releases, such as the use of the Chinese geometric pattern Bai Jia Yi applied on the inner Swoosh, along with the "fireworks" and "wind kite" prints applied on toe boxes. Another interesting detail is the use of the embossed graphics of the Chinese currency on the panels of the right shoe, a detail already present on the Air Jordan 13 CNY. The graphic details are enriched by the range of materials used. In addition to the classic smooth suede skin, the Air Jordan 1 Low CNY features striped painted leather, reminiscent of Chinese lanterns.
The Air Jordan 1 CNY will be released January 10th at retail price of ¥1,099 CNY (approximately $160 USD) and they will be available exclusively via SNEAKERS CN.
