Moncler launches a bio-based and carbon-neutral down jacket
Remo Ruffini's company is upping the ante of its commitment into sustainability
December 13th, 2019
As rumors of Kering's interest in Moncler multiply, Remo Ruffini's brand becomes more and more eco-friendly. The company introduced a bio-based and carbon-neutral down jacket, designed with fabrics and accessories of vegetable origin. The collaboration with the research and development departments of Moncler's partners has produced an item made with fabric, lining, buttons and zips derived from a renewable and sustainable raw material that allows a reduction in CO2 emissions of about 30%: castor beans. This plant grows in arid regions, do not impact food supply chains and is not meant for agriculture. It also requires only a minimum of water to survive.
The company confirms its commitment to experimenting with alternative solutions that contribute to the fight against climate change, while at the same time providing Moncler' s high standards of quality and technicality. This is why the brand has decided to offset the emissions generated throughout the entire life cycle of the new garment through REDD+ certified projects to protect forests in the Amazon.
The jacket itself notes its eco-friendly nature with a "BIO" chest appliqué.
