Virgil Abloh announces Louis Vuitton x NIGO capsule
It will be out in the middle of 2020 and will be titled LV²
December 12th, 2019
LV² or Louis Vuitton LV² is the name of the next capsule collection of the Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2020 season, as announced today by Virgil Abloh via an Instagram post. The collection will be created in collaboration with the iconic Japanese designer NIGO, founder of A BATHING APE* and Billionaire Boys Club and current creative director of Uniqlo UT. The collection will include leather goods, shoes, ready-to-wear and accessories decorated with graphics made by Nigo and with reinterpretations of the classic Louis Vuitton connotations, including a variation on the brand's famous monogram.
«I wanted to start off without collaborations», he told Vogue, «so people could see my point of view on the brand».
But now the time is ripe to start new partnerships and the first will be with one of its greatest inspirations:
«Me being at Louis Vuitton is directly attributable to work Nigo’s done in the past. A collab project with him—it puts his work in the right context. He inspired me to do what I do. I thought it was a full-circle moment.».
There are no details yet on the collaboration and the only certain news about it, besides the name, is that it will arrive in the middle of next year. Stay connected to nss magazine for all updates.
