UNIQLO launches a new limited edition collection with Marimekko
Japanese style meets Finnish prints
November 14th, 2019
Following the success of last spring, UNIQLO has joined forces again with Marimekko to create an FW 2019-2020 collection celebrating Finnish winter traditions and including some of the most recognizable prints of the Scandinavian brand.
We are very excited to introduce our second limited-edition line designed in collaboration with Marimekko, following the success of our spring and summer line," - says Yuki Katsuta, head of research and development at Uniqlo - "I am also delighted to see Marimekko prints and colours for the first time on UNIQLO LifeWear garments such as cashmere, Ultra Light Down and HEATTECH. What a nice way to stay warm in the coming winter months, while a touch of Finnish tradition is celebrated.
The result of the new partnership is a wide selection of garments (women, girls and babies) including the first Cocoon coat in an ultra-light down jacket, wool and cashmere hoodies, shirt dresses and jumpsuits, as well as accessories such as caps, gloves, scarves and leggings. On each item stand out the most recognizable prints by Marimekko: from Kivet (stones), designed by Maija Isola in 1956, to Tasaraita (uniform stripes), designed by Annika Rimala in 1968, to Siirtolapuutarha (city garden), designed by Maija Louekari in 2009.
The entire UNIQLO x Marimekko Limited Edition collection will be available from Friday, November 19th in every UNIQLO store and on the brand's official website.
