The official release date of the Yeezy 500 High “Slate”
Kanye West's new high-top sneaker
November 13th, 2019
After the Desert Boots dropped this September, Yeezy returns to the high-top sneaker with the Yeezy 500 High "Slate", the first high-top of the Yeezy 500 line. The shoe was first spotted on the feet of Kourtney Kardashian this October. Today the official release date and price have been announced, along with the first official looks.
The "Slate" will arrive on December 14th and will cost 220$.
The sneaker takes on the overall look of the other low-top Yeezy 500 models, with a slightly altered silhouette. In particular, the upper with its "inflated" underlays closely resembles the Yeezy 500 "Stone" model seen in November. The suede inserts, the use of smooth neoprene instead of the typical mesh, the leather inserts on the tongue and ankle, and the wavy adiPRENE midsole, reminiscent of the adidas Crazy 8 signed by Kobe Bryant before his switch to Nike, are almost identical. A reference that is not surprising given the strong similarity of this model with that of the classic basketball shoe. The colour palette is maintained on the neutral slate and white tones, respectively for upper and sole.
The release of the Yeezy 500 High "Slate" is scheduled for December 14th at a price of 220$. The shoe is already available in pre-sale on the Stadium Goods website for a price of 680$.
