New Balance celebrates the Grey Day
The brand dedicates 5 of its most iconic sneakers and an exclusive event to the famous nuance
September 3rd, 2019
Grey is the color symbol of New Balance. Introduced for the first time in 1980 as it was perfect for the urban style, it has become synonymous with the American brand over time, featured in many of its most iconic shoes. To celebrate it, New Balance chose September 5, 2019: Grey Day. This day will see as protagonists 5 of the brand's most iconic sneakers as well as an exclusive event. The protagonists of the proposal are three of the best-known silhouettes in the company's catalog, all of which are available in different shades of grey.
The offer includes the model 990V5, famous for having been the first shoe to be sold for more than $99 in 1982, but also the 997, a classic of the 90s still loved for its pioneering and avant-garde style. The third sneaker is the 997 Sport, a reinterpretation of the 997 featuring a midsole that mixes Encap Reveal and Abzorb technologies and features a heel counter. All the shoes will be available from September, 5 in the New Balance flagship stores and at the Special Sneaker Club in Milan.
Right here, on the same day, an exclusive private event will take place: three independent artists will creatively interpret the vision and the grey color of the Boston brand. Chef Marcello Calabrese will create finger food in the iconic New Balance shade, while Vittoria Xerra will design a shopping bag with contrasting graphics. Cristina Troisi will focus on Echo Chamber, a multimedia collection of sensations, memories, and visions in which images blend with sounds, repeating themselves in an evocative loop.
Cristina Troisi's exhibition will be open to the public from September 6 to 8 at Special Sneaker Club, Viale Gian Galeazzo, 31, Milan.
