Moncler Genius is the project developed a couple of years ago by the brand led by Remo Ruffini who entrusts the best contemporary designers to create a capsule that reflects the different souls of the company. An eclectic and smart approach to fashion that has been a success, giving rise to interesting collections, appreciated by customers and critics. After the romantic and voluminous silhouettes of Simone Rocha and the bold proposal of Pierpaolo Piccioli to combine Couture and patterns typical of African fabrics, it is the turn of 2 MONCLER 1952 to rework with their own style the codes of the company founded in the early '50s in Monestier-de-Clermont.
Veronica Leoni, head of womanswear, plays with layers of materials and shapes in a pragmatic and surprising mix: bouclé wool, net, tartan, tailored padding, fur and knitwear are mixed with nylon, while double layers, removable linings and small details make the silhouettes moldable, perfect for leaving the wearer freedom of expression. The most interesting pieces? Padded jackets with cape, extra long parkas, biker jackets.
Sergio Zambon, designer of the men's section, creates a series of garments designed for "cool climbers of the 21st century". Inspired by youth and pop culture, the result is a collection with essential and casual lines and a vaguely '70s mood, especially in the choice of colors. The voluminous parka and the jacket with two-way zip are the real must-have of the proposal, but also the parka in teddy fleece and the tone-on-tone outfits are interesting. Worthy of mention is the partnership with Romon Yang aka ROSTARR, abstract painter, calligrapher and director, author of the graphics on jackets and knitwear that show the year of birth of the maison and the name of the collection itself. Even more important is the collaboration between MONCLER 1952 and VALEXTRA. The Italian brand renowned for its luxury leather goods contaminates its minimalist rigour inspired by Milanese architecture with the accessories of the collection designed by Leoni and Zambon.
