Converse introduces the Renew Denim project

The brand's most iconic shoes meet recycled denim

Converse introduces the Renew Denim project The brand's most iconic shoes meet recycled denim

Renew is Converse's first collection of sustainable sneakers, created from 100% recycled materials. The project started four years ago, when Brandon Avery, head of the brand's innovation lab, made a micro-production of Chuck Taylor using old clothing and other special items belonging to staff members. The success of this small experiment has turned into a real program that aims to develop new, innovative and more sustainable ways to create Converse products. Following the presentation of last July of Renew Canvas, a series of sneakers featuring an upper made of rPET (polyethylene terephthalate), recycled polyester from used plastic bottles, the US company is ready to launch Converse Renew Denim. In this second chapter of the eco-friendly project, the iconic Chuck 70 meets denim.

Thanks to the collaboration with British vintage retailer, Beyond Retro, thousands of old jeans will become the base material for next season's coolest sneaker uppers. Each model will be available in three shades: light, medium and dark. But since there are no two identical denim colors, every customer who buys one of these shoes will have the chance to get their hands on a sort of limited edition. The collection is now available on Converse.com and in selected retailers worldwide.
