Sustainability has become one of the most important and debated topics within the fashion industry. The biggest brands are, in fact, looking for alternative and creative solutions to the environmental pollution issue. Leading this change is definitely Converse, which previewed some of its projects dedicated to sustainability during the latest White Street Market edition.

Now the American giant is ready to unveil its latest project: Converse Renew Canvas. The brand has started from the canvas used for two of its most iconic silhouettes, the Chuck Taylor All Star and the Chuck 70, to send out a powerful message. What apparently might look like the classic cotton canvas used for these silhouettes is actually made from 100% recycled polyester that came from used plastic bottles. The newly born fabric, rPET Yarn, is developed to mimic the properties of the organic cotton, but it's actually derived from recycled materials, and over the course of the season it will be reiterated in a great variety of nuances. A new chapter in the history of Converse has officially begun, and that's never been so green.

Renew Canvas will be available worldwide from July 5 on the Converse website and in selected retailers with prices ranging from $60 to $80.
