Vault by Vans x Frida Kahlo
The Californian brand celebrates the work of the Mexican artist with three new sneakers
June 26th, 2019
Following last year's collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum, Vans Vault returns to pay tribute to another iconic artist: Frida Kahlo. The result is a capsule collection inspired by the work of the Mexican painter that includes three classic silhouettes of the brand Sk8-Hi, Authentic and Slip-On. The first model is characterized by the upper in a mix of green leather and canvas on which stands out the 1939 work Las Dos Fridas which portrays two Frida holding hands. One wears a traditional Tehuana costume and the other a more contemporary dress symbolizing the two souls of the woman. The star of the OG Authentic LX sneakers is an all-over print of cut watermelons from Viva la Vida, said to have been made just eight days before Kahlo's death in 1954. The look is completed by a contrasting white vulcanized sole and white laces. Finally, the OG Slip-On LX celebrates the famous Autorretrato with Collar de Espinas. The entire Vault by Vans x Frida Kahlo collection will be available from 29 June 2019 at selected retailers.
