Francesco Ragazzi adds a punk touch to the iconic duvet of the brand

The Moncler event that took place during the last Milan Fashion Week was one of the most successful ones of the entire season, it was a huge presentation of the new capsules created for the project Moncler Genius - One House, Different Voices. The innovative collections were the result of the collaboration of the French Maison with some of the most important designers of our time: Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Hiroshi Fujiwara, Pierpaolo Piccioli and Palm Angels. One year after its groundbreaking inception, Moncler Genius keeps evolving, staying true to its motto: one house, different voices. Moreover, this season the group of designers is expanding, welcoming the new additions of Richard Quinn and Matthew Williams of 1017 ALYX 9SM.
Now Moncler is ready to introduce its new collection, 8 MONCLER PALM ANGELS, designed along with Francesco Ragazzi of Palm Angels. Working with big volumes, bold shapes and laminated surfaces he has devised fearless urban silhouettes with a riotous, almost punk spirit.
I started with the idea of a vandalized art gallery. The purity of the lines and form are abruptly challenged. For me Moncler is about the simplicity of a product that comes to life in many forms. I wanted to break that form - affirms Ragazzi.
Ragazzi took inspiration from the metallic look of metalized paper, which he later turned into something completely new. The designer has used laminated nylon with a mirrored effect to revisit the timeless Moncler duvet jacket, playing with its proportions, as well as on the pants, which recall the rave style. Ragazzi has used the collage technique to create all over prints and graphics , which he later sprayed, as graffiti, the brand's name Palm Angels on T-shirts and vests that play with the idea of vandalizing the purity of art. The claim of the season is Mind Control, while studs are applied on many items of the collection, in perfect punk style. Zippers are applied both on the front and on the back of the outerwear so that they can be used in many different ways. Varsity jackets, striped sweaters, hoodies and long scarves are apart of this collection as well. The Moncler logo, in a colourful version, stands out among the accessories.
