All the Michael Jackson references in the Louis Vuitton FW19 show
The inspirations from the King of Pop in the latest collection by Virgil Abloh
January 17th, 2019
It was definitely one of the most anticipated shows of this Paris Fashion Week, especially after his triumphant debut during the previous season. Virgil Abloh showcased his new FW 19 collection for Louis Vuitton menswear within the Jardin des Tuileries, in a location recreating the corner of Rivington and Ludlow in New York City. Since the beginning, the show was announced as a tribute to Micheal Jackson, even the invite to the show was a white shining glove, like the iconic one worn by the King of Pop.
According to what Virgil declared, Jackson was the main source of inspiration for this collection. The influence of the King of Pop was particularly clear above all in the details: the gloves, the black leather loafers, the fit of the pants, the flags of different countries (We Are The World not only on Christmas), a tee with the image of Michael's dancing feet.
We looked for all the references used by the creative director to design the new FW 19.
