Converse x JW Anderson present the new Run Star Hike
Mash-up sneaker
January 17th, 2019
The successful collaboration between Converse and JW Anderson continues. After having showing it for the first time during the LFW SS19 last September, the two partners launch their new sneaker: Run Star Hike. The shoe is an interesting mash-up between a classic Chuck Taylor and a Run Star.
From the first model the new Converse has taken the upper, characterized by a graceful and narrow silhouette typical of the '70s that rounds the foot; while the runner incorporates the addition of a midsole platform and a two-tone outsole in rubber.
Anderson also says it:
The contrasting proportions have always been part of the aesthetics of my design. When I approached this new Converse, I was trying to recreate the same aesthetic by combining the sole of a Run Star with the classic Chuck Taylor to emphasize the proportions.
Other details? Hand-drawn typographic signs that convey the shared history of the Irish sportswear brand and designer. It's available from today on Converse.com and from January 16 on the Anderson website at the price of €140, the typical canvas is replaced by linen and the date "1917" appears next to the patch, as a tribute to the All-Star debut year. Likewise, an imminent shoe in the Glitter version reads "2017", which marks the initial output of the Converse x JW Anderson Chuck 70 Glitter.
