No hyperbolic fashion shows in exotic and distant places or pompous sets. If Valentino flies to Tokyo and Chanel transforms the Dendur Temple to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a branch of ancient Egypt, Louis Vuitton, however, goes straight to the point and, to present the Pre-Fall 2019 collection, brings together a hyperglamour cast. Nicolas Ghesquière dresses, helped by the stylist Marie-Amelie Sauvé, with a personal reinterpretation of the American frontier the contemporary Hollywood gotha, plus the pop star Kelala, and makes him photograph by longtime collaborator Collier Schorr. The protagonists of the 17 shots are as many actresses, chosen among the coolest stars of the moment, each of which offers a particular idea of femininity. As the designer himself explains:
“These women embrace the various personalities that embody fashion at Louis Vuitton. Be they stars or new faces, all of them share the same willpower, and confidence in their choices, and at the same time, reflect the eclecticism of the female identity.”
There are many friends of the brand that presents, on this occasion, also a new and original version of the Monogram, the giant Monogram, found in the archives of the maison in bags such as the Boite Chapeau and Cannes. Many already appeared in the advertising campaigns of LV, such as Alicia Vikander, Jennifer Connelly, Ruth Negga or Riley Keough, Thandie Newton, Chloë Grace Moretz, Sophie Turner and Doona Bae, but also newcomers like Kelsey Asbille, the emerging star of the Ryan Murphy series, Pose, Indya Moore and Urassaya Sperbund. What do you think lookbook is the future of fashion? Will they take the place of the fashion shows?
