Saint Laurent has a new headquarters
On the Left Bank
January 10th, 2019
Is the new year always synonymous with changes on the horizon? For Saint Laurent, yes. The historic maison is, in fact, ready to transfer its headquarters from Avenue George V to 37-39 rue de Bellechasse. Not a random choice because this location in the 7th arrondissement, on the Left Bank, a stone's throw from the Musée d'Orsay, is rich not only of charm, but also history. In the eighteenth century it housed the Penthemont Abbey (name with which it is still known today), then the barracks of the Napoleonic Imperial Guard and, later, in 1915, the ministry of the Pensions. The French brand underlines in a press release how all the renovations, which lasted about 3 years, have been made respecting the historical heritage of the place and following strict environmental guidelines.
This 9,900 square foot space dating back to 1671, the same where the SS17 fashion show took place, debut as Anthony Vaccarello's creative director, will coincide with the arrival of a chapter in the history of the maison? Only time and the next collections will tell us, what is certain is that YSL opens 2019 with positive data: a growth of over 18%, with a turnover of over 1.2 billion euro recorded in the first nine months of 2018 , as recently declared Francesca Bellettini, president and managing director of Saint Laurent.
