We have been closely following the unfolding Genius Project from Moncler, which sees seven designers creating a unique capsule collection each that has been drip dropping over the summer and now fall season. Starting with Hiroshi Fujiwara, then Kei Ninomiya, both of which nss had the pleasure to interview. Next up saw the turn of the forward pushing designs of Craig Green, and the turn has now come to 2 MONCLER 1952
Signifying the
year of Moncler’s establishment in a small village in the French, Haute Savoie mountains, the 1952 range encompasses the deep heritage from the brands' inception to the current positions in inhabits today, as
a global brand with a fast-paced metropolitan appeal. The collection, for both men and women, is
a fast-spinning, poptastic recollection of the quintessential Moncler trademarks. The
puffer jacket, the most iconic Moncler garment, amplified in its expression to get a sense of contemporary pop and visual vibrancy. With an ever growing demographic base, the
legendary status symbol plays as an ironic subtext, as the
logo gets blown up to giant-sized proportions, gripping the immediate attention of onlookers, add to that, an incredibly
vibrant color schemes with orange, blue, a plethora of reds, intense purple, and green, makes them impossible to not notice.
Two-tone textures or
colorfully graphic mosaic patterns and Navaho motifs on both jackets and capes warrant even further attention as these classics are reborn for a new age. The collection at its foundation still remembers its
mountain past with
outerwear, jumpers, and
padded scarves, defined by a
sports attitude, on the whole. Legendary ski-resorts such as Sankt Moritz, Aspen, Gstaad, Zermatt, and Megève are spelled out in loud patches featured on T-shirts and sweatshirts, with a
nod towards the eighties culture with embossed comic strips.
