Celine new logo
Hedi Slimane's era has officially started
September 3rd, 2018
After the first Celine bag by Slimane worn a few days ago by Lady Gaga, there's other news in the French fashion house.
Hedi Slimane, appointed artistic, creative and image director at Celine last January, has already started his revolution. In an Instagram post appeared a few hours ago on the official profile of the brand (completely cleared out of all the images posted during the Philo era), has announced the renovation of the logo. The font has remained unchanged, but the word loses its accent on the E "to enable a simplified and more balanced proportion", thanks also to the closer spacing between the letters. The letter N is stretched and sharper, while the letter C is not perfectly rounded anymore. The new logo pays homage to the original one dating back from the 60s. Moreover, the word 'Paris', which has always been part of the logo, will appear only on the accessory, clothing and packaging, but not in the ad campaign photos.
Slimane, former creative director at Dior Homme and Yves Saint Laurent, seems to have an obsession for logos. Back in 2012, in fact, he removed the name 'Yves' changing the logo in a simpler 'Saint Laurent Paris', to give a more unitary and compact idea of the brand, a controversial and not so well-received decision inside the fashion world.
It's the first real innovation at Celine by Slimane, who follows a decade under the guidance of Phoebe Philo, ten years that defined a precise and iconic aesthetic, which now the Tunisian-French designer has to deal with. Slimane will also introduce the menswear and haute couture lines, as well as fragrances, turning the brand in a real fashion giant.

All we have to do is wait until September 28th, the day of the first Celine by Hedi Slimane show during PFW.
