Palm Angels SS19: the distorted athleisure of "Recovery"
Among the creations also proposed the collaboration with the American brand Under Armor
June 18th, 2018
Sunday evening, in a sunny Milan, Palm Angels presented Recovery, its SS19 collection.
For the next hot season, the artistic director Francesco Ragazzi continues his exploration of American culture in search of a fashion with a strong identity and does so by mixing naturalistic motifs with a functional aspect taken to the extreme.
Thus, if on one side bald eagles and postcard landscapes of Yosemite National Park sprout, on the other hand this dystopian tourist wardrobe equipped with a baby carrier and phone case around the neck is made with hyper-technical fabrics.
Neoprene, nylon, translucent tartan enhance minimal shapes, elongated worker jackets, shirts and trousers as well as full-circle skirts from the '50s echo.
Palm Angels brings on the catwalk a distorted athleisure, with a strong attitude streetwear and underground, with elements "rave" (perhaps a link to the collaboration with Swedish House launched at Miami Music Week) and details, like the Matrix micro style sunglasses with a ski flavor -fi.
To underline the capsule collection with Under Armor, as described by Ragazzi:
"I like collaborations and even reinterpret products like those of Under Armor, a brand that is part of mine. That's why I created hooded sweatshirts, joggers, short shorts and high-speed recovery T-shirts, in the name of an easier approach to life".
