New York June Fashion Week’s Moodboards
The inspirations directly from the catwalks
June 8th, 2018
This year the summer session dedicated to the fashion shows starts with an unexpected experiment.
Before the official launch of SS19 menswear and womenswear collections' presentations, the fashion elite is trying a new formula: the New York June Fashion Week.
From June 3 to 7, the Big Apple hosted a series of proposals for next year, mostly focused on resort lines.
To this category belongs the creations presented by brands such as Diane von Furstenberg, Badgley Mischka, Carolina Herrera, Cushnie and Ochs, Anna Sui, Dennis Basso and Rag & Bone; while Alexander Wang, Narciso Rodriguez, Lorod and Rosie Assoulin opted for shows dedicated to spring-summer 2019.
On June 6th all the spotlights were on NY to see the menswear collection designed by Anthony Vaccarello for Saint Laurent, who, for the occasion, chose to bring to the catwalk the rock attitude of the '70s mixed with a personal reworking of the launch party for the YSL Opium perfume.
The evaluation of this experimental Fashion Week?
From an aesthetic point of view and inspiration (most brands have chosen to rework their ethnic or stylistic roots), it has been rather mediocre.
Perhaps it would have made more sense to bring together all the main resort collections, even if now the big names like Gucci or Chanel have the habit of opting for spectacular and sought-after cities and sets.
If you want to get an idea, take a look at the inspirations behind some of the proposals of this New York June Fashion Week.
