The rumors have been around for a while now and confirmation has arrived: after 11 years Kris Van Assche says goodbye to Dior Homme, but however, it will remain in LVMH with a position that will be announced at a later stage.
Speaking the news was the same French Fashion House, which through its president and CEO, Pietro Beccari, declared:
"I thank Kris Van Assche for contributing to the amazing growth of Dior Homme by creating an elegant and contemporary silhouette for men. He wrote an important chapter in the history of Dior Homme and played a key role in its development".
In place of the Belgian designer, the role of artistic director will be entrusted to Kim Jones, one of the most influential figures in the remodeling of modern menswear.
"I am delighted to welcome Kim Jones at Dior Homme, with whom I had the chance to collaborate previously at Louis Vuitton" - said Beccari - "I admire his creative vision, which combines both his own inspirations of contemporary culture and his own reinterpretation of specific codes and heritage of a house. I am confident in his ability to recreate his universe within the maison Dior and imagine for Dior Homme an elegant and resolutely modern wardrobe".
Jones will thus enter the Dior family and will join Maria Grazia Chiuri, who has been responsible for the women's line since 2016, but what contribution will she give to the iconic maison of Monsieur Christian?
"I am committed to create a modern and innovative male silhouette built upon the unique legacy of the house".
Word of Kim, which will debut with his first collection for Dior in June 2018.
