Balenciaga FW18 supporting World Food Programme
The FW18 collection by Demna Gvasalia is a manifesto to support movements and celebrate subcultures
March 5th, 2018
Balenciaga continues to show its dual identity with the Balenciaga FW18 collection shown yesterday; the one deeply linked to the legacy of Cristobal and the innovative and eccentric one of Demna Gvasalia.
A game of over and stratified volumes combined with the highest sartorial technique represented by a series of garments in which tartan, animalier, fluo, avant-street and couture merge and come to life on the catwalk that resembles a skate ramp, widely decorated with symbols and graffiti full of symbols and slogans that embrace without distinction different subcultures.
Beyond the mere aesthetic, Demna Gvasalia brings on the catwalk her manifesto to support movements like the World Food Programme, widely present on different items of the collection.
That the fashion system is moving in a new, more forward-looking direction?
