Christopher Bailey reinterprets the iconic Burberry check fabric
#TheRainbowcheck will be the leitmotif of Burberry's FW18 collection
February 14th, 2018
“My final collection here at Burberry is dedicated to – and in support of – some of the best and brightest organisations supporting LGBTQ+ youth around the world. There has never been a more important time to say that in our diversity lies our strength, and our creativity.”
Christopher Bailey has it all mapped out and, now that, after 17 years, while he is preparing to say goodbye to Burberry, he does it in the sign of the inclusiveness and of self-acceptance.
The British designer, former CEO of one of the top 100 companies in the FTSE (Financial Times Stock Exchange) to be openly gay, appointed in 2014 "most inspiring LGBT business executive" in a ranking compiled by the organization OUTstanding and the Financial Times, reveals the inspiration of his latest collection and launches a very special first piece.
Bailey has, in fact, reinterpreted the iconic Burberry check fabric in rainbow version to support LGBTQ+ communities around the world and, with the British company, has made donations to three charities working in his support:
Albert Kennedy Trust, Trevor Project and ILGA.
To see the entire FW18 collection, co-ed "see now-buy now", by Baley, the latest for Burberry, the appointment is Saturday, February 17 during the LFW.
