Phoebe Philo to leave Céline
Will it be true this time?
October 17th, 2017
There have been rumors for a long time now and, maybe, this time is really about to happen: Phoebe Philo leaves Céline.
According to The Business of Fashion, the LVMH Group, owner of the French brand, started a series of talks to replace the Creative Director and her team.
If a LVMH spokesman categorically denies Philo’s departure, anonymous Parisian and London-based sources near the Maison insist that the designer should leave Céline, where she works since 2008, by the end of the year or, at most, before the summer. Always the magazine reveals the names of people who could take the place of Phoebe.
The most eligible candidate would seem to be Natasa Cagalj, creative director of Ports 1961 and former design director from Stella McCartney, but it would be possible even Michael Rider, currently head of Céline ready-to-wear, or Ilaria Icardi, Design Director at Victoria Beckham and earlier at Saint Laurent.
To have some sure news we just have to wait.
Meanwhile, stay on nss and we’ll reveal any future update.
