Virgil Abloh success is related to his ability to interact with very different realities, creating interesting and profitable collaborations.
The latest announcements are that with Lil Uzi Vert (Virgil is helping him with the debut album Luv Is Rage 2) and with Jimmy Choo for a line of footwear that will accompany the Off-White SS18 collection on the catwalk on 28 September during the Paris fashion week.
To these two partnerships, you can add the one with Rimowa.
During the weekend, the CEO of the German brand, Alexandre Arnault, posted on Instagram the image of two Black Topas Stealth black suitcases, personalized with “Personal” and “Belongings”, accompanied by the inscription
“Hey @virgilabloh - coming for you right out of the factory!”.
Clues about this new collaboration were all already there.
In fact, during the last year, in March, the designer was among the people at the opening of Rimowa’s flagship store in Paris, while Arnault accompanied by his father, Bernard, owner of the luxury LVMH group, was among the guests of Off White FW17 fashion show in Paris. Noting the approach of the two, many thought of a potential investment by LVMH in Off-White or an imminent appointment of Abloh at the helm of one of the many conglomerate fashion houses.
