MM6 Maison Margiela SS18
Not a runway but a showcase for Maison Margiela's Artisanal line
September 18th, 2017
At Covent Garden, on a sunny London morning MM6 Maison Margiela, the Artisanal line by Maison Margiela, presents its collection for the SS18.
No formal parade. The brand confirms its rebellious nature and chooses a pop-up store opened only for just a couple of hours as a set to showcase its latest creations. The MM6 team fills a boutique-style boutique with a tide of graffiti, cryptic scripts, love statements, small sketches, made with a black marker.
The same reason that characterizes the leaders of the collection.
While inside the Maison's staff, wearing the famous white lab coats, were working on the lookbook shooting, through the windows the collection was showcased with two alternate models, which show the latest MM6 SS18 dresses and accessories. Outside a crowd of bloggers, publishers, and curious attendance to this, enchanted by the eye-catching looks proposed.
If the presentation is unusual, the collection respects the androgynous and deconstructed style that has led to Martin Margiela's success. Materials such as plastic, cotton, denim cleverly mixed and matched to a white-dominated palette, broken off by combinations of offsprings, honeycomb prints and strips, and the black graffiti mix, the same ones that cover the walls of the location event.
The key garments? Optical white tees, patchwork caftans, flared jeans, mannish jackets, transparent plastic boots.
