Inside Russian Rave Culture with Gosha Rubchinskiy's latest zine In collaboration with INRUSSIA

St. Petersburg was formed in the dream of joining the two fronts of the European continent, creating a connection between Western Europe and Russia. Historically deeply tied to Western culture, it is in the heart of St. Petersburg, which sees the birth of a movement designed to change the rules of an entire nation.

After the fall of the Iron Curtain, a new music movement imported by young people who had traveled to Europe laid the foundations for a youth revolution. It is the advent of the Russian rave scene. From this imaginary, Gosha Rubchinskiy takes inspiration for his collections, celebrating the Russian aesthetics and the nostalgic allure that lurks on the phenomenon also through a series of projects in collaboration with INRUSSIA.

After the short documentary film APART and a printed guide to the beauties of Kaliningrad, Gosha Rubchinsky returns to work with INRUSSIA and together they make САНКТ-ПЕТЕРБУРГ.

САНКТ-ПЕТЕРБУРГ is a short essay that traces the origins of the Russian underground scene through archival images and direct testimonies. Opening the dances is the essay by Timur Novikov How I Created the Russian Rave, followed by personally-personalized narratives directly involved in the development of the rave movement, without counting extracts from artist Timur Novikov, the main catalyst of the movement, and Alexei Yurchak, anthropologist and expert in post-Soviet history.

САНКТ-ПЕТЕРБУРГ means "St. Petersburg" and is the gift of Gosha Rubchinskiy to those who have never stopped loving that musical culture that still today is contributing to defining global aesthetics.
