The two giants of sportswear and e-commerce, Nike and Amazon, have reached an agreement that will bring enormous benefits to both.
Competitors such as adidas and Under Armor both have large custom stores o the popular portal, whereas, up to now, the Swoosh brand products have been available only through third parties and unauthorized distributors retailers. This new partnership not only ensure the company a more competitive market approach, but it would be a way to curb counterfeiting, get rid of inventory discounted surplus, increasing sales of full-price products and most importantly, to see its revenues increase by about half a billion dollars.
"Taking this step" - Lindsay Drucker Mann of Goldman Sachs told to Reuteurs - "would give Nike direct economic exposure to a large and fast growing distribution channel, while improving the brand presentation and expanding access to millennials".
For Amazon, Nike's direct sales would be an important new source of income in the clothing and footwear market and would fit perfectly within the recently launched "Amazon Wardrobe" initiative: the "try-before-you-buy" approach which allows buyers to receive at home the last models of the collections present and decide whether and what to buy, only after they have been tested.
Not bad, right?
