The Chanel Cruise18 collection brings us to the Ancient Greece “The Modernity of Antiquity” celebrates the Classic beauty with a suggestive fashion show inside the Grand Palais in Paris

Without questions, Chanel fashion shows are some of the most anticipated and not only for the dresses shown but also for the sets up that the French Maison does every time. After futuristic and flamboyant locations across the world, for the Cruise18 collection Chanel is back in Paris to its traditional location for shows, the Grand Palais, to give us a revival of the Ancient Greece.

The Modernity of Antiquity is the name of the Chanel Cruise 2018 collection inspired by the ethereal and rigorous beauty of the Greek antiquity, in which floaty peplum and pastel-colored tunics are reinterpreted with the style of the Maison. The tweed gives rise to tailleur and mini-dresses who are like something from Homer's poem, while golden decors and stones celebrate the opulence of the classic Greece. Obviously, there are dresses with patterns who pay a tribute to the ancient Greek art works, recalling the more “primitive” and artistic side of those ages. Swimwears, crop tops, and trendy accessories make the collection more modern, in particular, the colored high-heel gladiators – the next seasonal must-have, surely.

The show took place in the location set up with the Ancient Greece theme, with suggestive statues, pillars, and ruins to recreate the Hellenic atmosphere accurately.

Fun facts: during the fashion show Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, and Lily-Rose Depp, Karl Lagerfeld's muse-models, weren't on the catwalk – probably because of the MET Gala's Monday party. But the fashion designer ended the show alongside Hudson Kroening, the 8-years-old baby-model who is a veteran of Chanel's fashion shows.
