OFF-WHITE FW17 - The Enchanted Forest
Five things to know about Virgil Abloh's show at Paris Fashion Week
March 5th, 2017
It's not a secret that one of our favorite shows so far was OFF-WHITE. The Virgil Abloh's show, one of the most anticipated of FW2017 Paris Fashion Week FW17, confirms once again the fashion designer's ability to design collections in which streetwear and luxury fashion come together perfectly. Despite being part of the novelle vague of the designers who have revolutionized modern fashion standards, OFF-WHITE has nothing on big Maison of the Paris circuit, making a collection with a strong street attitude who exalts the female elegance.
Here's everything you need to know about the OFF-WHITE FW2017 collection.
#1 The invitation
Virgil Abloh paid a tribute to Marcel Duchamp, one of the most important artists of Dadaism, with the invitation letter, which had a graphic who mixed the work L.H.O.O.Q. (the Mona Lisa with mustaches) with the iconic sign who appeared on The Fountain. An artistic invitation who also recalls the Marcel Duchamp's Ready-Made concept, which Virgil Abloh has interpreted in his collection.
#2 The location
For the show, a suggestive forest was recreated, in which the models walked through dried leaves, dead trees, and thick fog.
# 3 The models
Gigi Hadid opened the show, wearing a bolero and a midi-skirt with a deep slit. A pair of soft high boots completed the look, in total-look Prince of Wales pattern. On the catwalk even the model Hailey Baldwin, while their friend Kendall Jenner looked at them from the front row, wearing a total look red tailleaur, OFF-WHITE of course.
#4 The details
The collection includes some denim items who confirm the collaboration between Virgil Abloh and Levi's: cropped jeans jacket, "tiger stripes" effect denim suits and trendy jeans pants. The 10.000 Swarovski micro-crystals have not gone unnoticed, but the real it-piece of the collection are the patent boots with the ironic sentence "FOR WALKING".
#5 Our favorite looks
Finally, here are the five looks who made us fall in love with, like the black see-through long dress or the oversize pink puffer jacket.
