Music is my Mistress is the new video for Kenzo SS17 campaign
Directed by Kahlil Joseph, the visionary mind behind Lemonade
February 20th, 2017
Kenzo presents "Music is my Mistress", a short film part of the campaign for its SS17. Carol Lim and Humberto Leon choose a unique and interesting cast composed by Kahlil Joseph, the director behind successful Beyonce's video Lemonade -, Tracee Ellis Ross, daughter of Diana Ross and Golden Globe winner for her role in Black-ish, Grey's Anatomy's actor Jesse Williams, also famous for the powerful discourse of racial injustice at the BET Awards last year, and Kelsey Lu, musician about to release her first album. Together the trio is the protagonist of a strange film ruled by fusion of rhythms, visions and moods, always guided by music and quotes from the Senegalese director Djibril Diop Mambèty. The images of Ross in African royalty version, overlap with those of Williams in the role of a determined music manager of a hip hop artist (Ishmael Butler) and fragments of the ethereal Lu and her cello.
