Beyoncé has never hidden her black pride and her curves have become iconic all over the world.
For her debut as cinema author the American singer has decided to bring back to light the story of Saartjie Baartman, a South African woman become famous at the beginning of the XIX century for the particularly abundant shape of her posterior, result of a rare clinic condition known as steatopygia.
The woman, belonging to the Khoikhoi culture, became the protagonist of numerous freak shows in the city of London which took her away from slavery in Holland. After her death, occurred when she was just 25, her body was dissected to be studied and then exposed for more than a century at the Musée de l’Homme in Paris.
A story of big social value that Beyoncé is also willing to play. The popstar has already taken part into numerous cinema productions – Austin Powers, The Pink Panther, Dreamgirls…– but none of them was remarkable. Is this gonna be the right role to launch her on the big screen?
