Summer according to Alexia Mariani
3 sisters and 1 American dream
July 16th, 2015
Alexia Mariani was born in Monaco 23 years ago but she’s currently based in Milan.
Her relationship with photography starts at the age of 8 when she receives her first camera for present, an Olympus, and since that moment she's never stopped taking pictures of everything that was around her. Her images are inspired by the cinema works of Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, Russ Meyers and Michelangelo Antonioni, while her myths in photography go from Helmut Newton to Larry Clark, Tim Walker and Robert Doisneau.
A variety of imaginaries and styles which converge in her art with a common denominator: her American dream. Alexia has always dreamed of America and her shots often recall the desolate atmospheres of the USA. But the protagonists are always three: she and her two sisters, Axelle and Alexandra. We present you here a selection of images from her archive which talk about Summer.
