Before i Die

Candy una ragazza di New Orleans, con l'aiuto di amici ha trasformato il lato di una casa abbandonata del suo quartiere in un muro dove si può scrivere ciò che è importante per voi. Before I Die è un progetto interattivo di arte pubblica che invita le persone a condividere le loro speranze e sogni in uno spazio pubblico. Una enorme lavagna con gli stencil "Prima di morire voglio _______". Il muro diventa uno spazio pubblico per la contemplazione e ci ricorda perché vogliamo essere vivi nel mondo di oggi. Before i Die è una domanda che Candy dopo aver perso qualcuno che amava molto, si è posta più volte e lei crede che il design dei nostri spazi pubblici riflettano meglio ciò che conta per noi come comunità e come individui. Questa era la base per la sua tesi di laurea.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day and forget what really matters to you. With help from old and new friends, Candy turned the side of an abandoned house in her neighborhood in New Orleans into a giant chalkboard where residents can write on the wall and remember what is important to them. Before I Die is an interactive public art project that invites people to share their hopes and dreams in public space. Painted with chalkboard paint and stenciled with the sentence “Before I die I want to _______”, the wall becomes an enlightening way to get to know your neighbors and discover what matters most to the people around you. It creates a public space for contemplation and reminds us why we want to be alive in the world today. It’s a question that changed Candy after she lost someone she loved very much, and she believes the design of our public spaces can better reflect what matters to us as a community and as individuals. This was the basis for her graduate thesis.
