Gaming has been one of the fastest growing market categories for many years – an expansion that the pandemic has accelerated bringing the total number of gamers in the world to around 2.5 billion. A huge market that does not stop only at videogames but that includes merch, tech and lifestyle accessories but above all ad hoc furnishings such as chairs and desks. Precisely for this reason, IKEA has signed a collection of furniture for gamers in collaboration with Republic of Gamers, a brand of the ASUS family and leader in the hardware gaming market. The idea behind it was to democratize the gaming experience, providing every enthusiast with the opportunity to buy functional and above all accessible products but designed with the professional eye of those who have dedicated a lifetime to gaming.
The new collection dedicated to gaming includes 6 different lines for a total of 30 products that include desks, chairs, combinations of the two as well as a series of accessories that include headphone holders, cup holders, neck cushions, mouse pads and sets for shooting via smartphone. In designing the collection, ergonomics and the fluidity of the designs were the main guidelines – the best example is the Uppspel desk that has a double function and can become a work desk as well as a gaming station. All products, then, are divided into various price ranges to be as democratic and inclusive as possible. Ewa Rychert, Global Business Leader of workspace for IKEA of Sweden, emphasized the values behind the new product range:
«A lot can be done to democratize gaming, we are convinced. This is the first step. We launch complete products and solutions that combine high quality and affordable price».
