On the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2019, the creative studio and contemporary art magazine KALEIDOSCOPE has collaborated with RIMOWA for a multimedia project that includes a short film, an installation and a publication, by the Spanish artist Guillermo Santomá.
The designer revisits the company's iconic luggage products with his futuristic look, transforming them into the raw material of GAS, a real car that thanks to RIMOWA's aluminum becomes a sculpture of light and sound.
Inspired by Ed Ruscha's famous photographic series Twentysix Gasoline Stations, by the Light and Space movement and the West Coast custom car culture, the work was presented a couple of days ago at Spazio Maiocchi. Santomà and fashion designer Heron Preston stand out among the guests of the event.
The RIMOWA x KALEIDOSCOPE project is completed by a photo book and a short film, made by Thibaut Grevet between the wild landscape of Los Monegros desert and Santomà's studio in Barcelona.
