(Certe) volte (certi) designer mi sembrano decisamente ossessionati dall’idea di “minimalismo”, quasi come se venissero colti da un improvviso furor bacchico che li porta a spogliare il mondo intorno a loro di dettagli e abbellimenti a loro parere inutili. Superflui. Malvagi.
Andrew Miller ne è un esempio lampante: ogni giorno per un totale di 100 giorni (a partire da quando, onestamente, me lo sono persa) sceglierà un oggetto d’uso quotidiano, preferibilmente riconoscibile al primissimo sguardo - una Banana Chiquita, un blocchetto di Post-it, una Polaroid, per dipingerlo completamente di bianco, fotografarlo e pubblicarlo sul suo blog Brand Spirit.
Mah.
Sometimes some designers look insanely attached to the idea of “minimalism at any cost”, as if some sudden need to have everything around them cleaned and simplified took possession of them. All details and useless embellishments must be cancelled by objects and stuff. Forever. Erased. They are Evil.
Andrew Miller is one of them: everyday for 100 days (ain’t got a clue about when all this was started) he will pick up an object of common use, preferably recognizeable at first sight - a Banana Chiquita, a bunch of Post-it, a Polaroid – to entirely paint it in white. Then take a picture of it, and upload it on his blog Brand Spirit.
Yay.
