Tumblr of the week - 100 beards, 100 days

Noi di NSS adoriamo i progetti interdisciplinari, gli azzardi visivi, tutto ciò che è sperimentazione e ha un valore culturale, oltre che meramente estetico. Per questo amiamo il salto più lungo della gamba che il fotografo inglese Jonathan Daniel Pryce ha deciso di compiere: creando il blog “100 beards, 100 days” ha infatti attribuito un nuovo significato al suo lavoro di fotografo streetstyle.

Gli scatti di barbe “cool” acchiappate qua e là in giro per Londra (tra luglio e ottobre di quest’anno) diventano così una sorta di censimento rispetto alle possibili modalità di interpretazione personale dell’accessorio maschile più osservato del momento: la barba, appunto. Corta e curata oppure wild e d’ispirazione quasi mormona. 

Ciascuno dei protagonisti di questo sito (ora anche libro) racconta un angoletto della capitale britannica.

NSS loves cross-disciplinary projects, daring viewpoints, everything experimental and with a cultural extra value – other than a mere aesthetic taste. That’s the reason why we appreciate the jump British photographer Jonathan Daniel Pryce made: by creating the blog ““100 beards, 100 days”, he managed to improve his job as a streetstyle photographer with a far more interesting new meaning.

His pics of “cool beards” shot here and there around London (between July and October 2012) thus become a sort of census of all the possible ways to interpret the most observed of the menswear accessories right now: that is, beard! Short and polished or wild and Mormon inspired. Each of the protagonists of these portraits (now even collected in a book) tell us about tiny little portions of the British capital.
