Tutto quello che dovete sapere dei CFDA Awards 2017

Ieri sera si sono svolti gli annuali “Oscar della moda”, ovvero i CFDA Awards 2017, la premiazione indetta dal Council of Fashion Designers of America che si è svolta al Hammerstein Ballroom di New York.

La serata è stata un tripudio di celebs e volti noti della moda, e, come ogni evento mondano che si rispetti, favolosi abiti che hanno sfilato sul red carpet. Un evento che ha celebrato la moda a 360°, premiando i più talentuosi nomi del panorama internazionale e rendendo omaggio a chi ha fatto del suo mestiere una passione che è fonte d'ispirazione per molti altri.

Tra i vincitori troviamo Stuart Vevers di Coach (Accessories Designer of the Year), Laura Kim e Fernando Garcia di Monse (Swarovski Award for Emerging Talent), Path McGrath (Founders Awards) e Rick Owens, premiato col prestigioso Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ma questo era solo un accenno, ecco tutto quello che dovete sapere sui CFDA Awards 2017.

#1 Raf Simons

Il fashion designer belga ha vinto sia il premio Menswear Designer of The Year che il Womenswear Designer of The Year, traguardo che è stato raggiunto solo un'altra volta prima di lui, ovvero da Calvin Klein in persona nel 1993.

"If we as creatives can be an inspiration for how the world should look. I think that it's something we should take as a very important task in our existence",

ha detto Raf Simons al momento della premiazione.

#2 Demna Gvasalia

Il direttore creativo di Vetements e Balenciaga ha vinto il premio International Award, presentandosi sul palco con una t-shirts della band Rammstein e un cappellino nero.

"I could never do this job without such a fascination of how clothes can change us and how we can use them as powerful tools of innovation and self-expression",

ha detto Demna Gvasalia.

#3 L'omaggio a Franca Sozzani

La direttrice di Vogue Italia scomparsa lo scorso Dicembre è stata omaggiata con il Fashion Icon Award, per celebrare la passione, la determinazione e lungimiranza del suo lavoro, che difficilmente verrà dimenticato. A premiare Franca Sozzani è salita sul palco Anna Wintour, che ha reso omaggio alla collega con un toccante discorso.

"Franca and I were thrown into each other’s lives quickly, when we were hired to lead our magazines the very same week, but we became friends slowly, in part because both of us were independent spirits, each unsure of what to make of the other. We circled each other for years, like jungle cats. Frankly, I was really intimidated by all that glorious hair. It was only after extraordinary issue after extraordinary issue of Italian Vogue that I began to realize not only what a brilliant editor Franca was, but how generous and playful her imagination could be".

#4 Janelle Monae

La cantante e attrice è stata onorata col premio Board of Directors per il suo contributo alla Women's March. Sul palco, Janelle Monae ha tenuto un discorso di circa cinque minuti in cui ha ricordato la sua esperieza al Women's March e l'importanza del rispetto reciproco.

"I think about that historic moment at the Women's March, and I was scared. When you have thousands of people looking at you like, 'Yeah, give us something,' it's a scary feeling. But when I think about that march on Washington, I'm reminded of all the faces I saw from different walks of life. Young, old, gay, straight, different religious backgrounds, it didn't matter, they were together as human beings. And that's the one thing that left with me. I'm reminded that as human beings, it's our responsibility to take care of one another. Women's rights are human rights. LGBTQ rights are human rights. Poor folks' rights are human rights. Immigrant rights are human rights. Minority rights are human rights. So as human beings, let's never forget that none of us are free until all of us are free".

#5 Red Carpet

Potevamo non dare un'occhiata al red carpet degli Oscars della moda? Ovviamente no. Abiti da sogno hanno sfilato in occasione del CFDA Awards 2017, indossati da “modelle” d'eccezione. Gigi Hadid ha indossato un monacale completo di The Row, mentre la sorella Bella Hadid ha sfoggiato un abito-giacca sgargiante firmato OFF-WHITE. Amber Valletta non è passata inosservata col suo bellissimo abito rosso di Oscar de la Renta, così come Janelle Monae col suo completo black-white di Christian Siriano.
