Sophie Webster SS 2013 Collection

Sophia Webster, diplomata al Royal College of Art, è la protetta di Nicholas Kirkwood, di cui è stata assistente per due anni. Aiutata dalla protezione del suo mentore, Sophia si dedica al design di scarpe di lusso e presenta una collezione estiva colorata e ultrafemminile. La stilista si lascia ispirare dal mondo del cinema, in particolare dal film di Todd Sodlonz Welcome to the Dollhouse e dal personaggio di Patricia Arquette in True Romance.  Propone stiletti, platforms e stivali altissimi, ma anche zainetti e pochettes, dalle stampe grafiche: disegni aztechi e tribali, pois, fenicotteri, in colori vivi che ricordano il Brasile. Per mostrare la sua linea la Webster torna bambina e gioca con le sue modelle, come fossero delle bambole. Infatti le posiziona all’interno di una scatola, del tutto simile alla confenzione della Barbie, e le accessoria in stile 90s. Un po’ kitsch, un po’ selvaggia, ma certo divertente, giovane e femminile questa collezione ci invita a giocare con la nostra immagine ed il nostro stile, partendo da scarpe e borse by Sophia Webster.

Sophia Webster, graduated at Royal College of Art  is the protégé of Nicholas Kirkwood and she was his assistant for two years. Helped by the protection of his mentor, Sophia dedicates to luxury shoes design and present a colorful and ultrafeminine summer collection. The designer gets inspiration from cinema, in particular from the movie of Todd Sodlonz Welcome to the Dollhouse and from the character of Patricia Arquette in True Romance. She proposes stilettos, platforms and very high boots, but also backpacks and clutches, printed with graphic items: Aztec and tribal patterns, polka dots, flamingos, in bright colors that remind to Brazil. Because of showing her line, Webster come back to childhood and plays with her models, as they were dolls. In fact she locates them in a box, through and through similar to Barbie, and accessorizes them in 90s style. This collection, a little bit kitsch, a little bit  wild, but sure funny, young and feminine, invites us to play with our image and with our style, starting from shoes and bags by Sophia Webster.
